Swimming Pool Covers
Swimming Pool Covers come in handy for all sorts of different reasons. I know that during those long hot days of summer you want to have your swimming pool readily available for you to swan dive in whenever the fancy takes you (in my dreams), but with swimming pools comes responsibility, real responsibility for safety and also maintenance. So why should you want to cover it up, and what types of cover are available?
Swimming Pool Covers
- Winter covers – there comes a time every year when you have to admit defeat, you won’t be swimming in the pool again for some months, might as well cover it up. Covering your swimming pool in winter is a great idea for all sorts of reasons - comfort (you’ll catch your death if you fall in accidentally), safety (stops you worrying about the kids if they are playing out and about near the pool), and it also stops debris from falling into the water and making it look more like a dirty old pond, especially if your pool is close to any trees which might start losing their leaves as soon as the weather turns a little chilly.
- Solar covers - even in the height of the summer, you might wish that your swimming pool lost a little more of its “chill factor”. You know how it is, when you try to make yourself as tall as you possibly can as you gradually lower yourself into the water, delaying the point of immersing your private bits and pieces into the cold water for as long as possible. Well, a solar cover is a great way of heating the water for free, as long as the sun is shining of course. It can also reduce the amount of heat lost overnight, just think about it, the sun beating down all day on your swimming pool warming it up for you, and then all of that lovely heat is lost overnight and has to start again in the morning. A solar cover will keep it nice and warm until morning.
- Above Ground Swimming Pool Covers – even above ground swimming pools (you know the sort, like giant paddling pools) can have swimming pool covers, keeps them clean and keeps the heat in. Great stuff.
- Roller Swimming Pool Covers – if you install a roller type swimming pool cover, it not only covers your pool efficiently and quickly, it also gives your arm a bit of exercise too.
- Slatted Automatic Swimming Pool Covers – if you’re really posh you can just have a push button swimming pool cover – better make sure there’s nobody in it before you press the button though.
